Perhaps it's easier here in the hills and hollers of West Virginia, where mountaintop removal's impact on not only the environment, but human rights is smack dab in our faces. Our local environments are ruined, but at the same time, we're literally being "ethincally cleansed," as the coal industry depopulates an entire region, not to mention poisoning Appalachian families with their hellish brew of toxic waste.
