Blog Roundup #1 is here! Some thought-provoking blogs on climate change for you:
- Howling Duck Ranch presents A Year in Provisions posted at Howling Duck Ranch
From the article: “This year I will take up the challenge of providing all my family’s food needs. My aim is to have ‘Food Sovereignty’ for me and my family. What that means to me is that I will grow, gather, raise, fish, and hunt for all my own food needs. To accomplish this, I will have to learn to fish and hunt, learn how to make cheese and gather from the wild, and learn how to preserve food in a variety of ways–many of which I have never tried before.” The author/farmer, by-the-way, is a woman.
- Happy Bodies presents Why Climate Change is a feminist issue. posted at Happy Bodies -
From the article: “For me, motivating myself about this issue is not about the scary numbers, but contextualizing it as one of “Climate Justice” and particularly for me, justice for women.” An interesting take on consumption is the article’s first point: Women are often portrayed as consumers and men as breadwinners (even today), but men are just as much consumers – often for things with an especially large climate impact, such as meat and oversized pickup trucks.
- Benzu presents Building Green Architecture | Sustainable Design posted at Architecture Student Chronicles
Check out the slideshow of green homes, including exterior and interior photos and floorplans. Some are quite beautiful.
