To accomplish this, I will have to learn to fish and hunt, learn how to make cheese and gather from the wild, and learn how to preserve food in a variety of ways–many of which I have never tried before.” The author/farmer, by-the-way, is a woman.

From the article: “For me, motivating myself about this issue is not about the scary numbers, but contextualizing it as one of “Climate Justice” and particularly for me, justice for women.” An interesting take on consumption is the article’s first point: Women are often portrayed as consumers and men as breadwinners (even today), but men are just as much consumers – often for things with an especially large climate impact, such as meat and oversized pickup trucks.
